I would be concerned that if the yoke was designed for a bolt to thread into it, that if you drilled it out and tried to use a u-bolt that the u-bolts nuts wouldn't have a flat surface to rest on. Most bolt style yokes on the backside are just uneven casting. I'm with Vince on an upgrade
