Default Another 69 Camaro

Hello, and yes it is another red 69, but a convertible this time.

I have been reading about and looking at all kinds of projects on this site lately. My project is not quite as over the top as most of the radical and beautiful rides here, although I do have a specific purpose for my car.

I would like to make it able to compete at Targa events such as the Targa Newfoundland. I know a convertible is not the ideal candidate for a track car, but I stumbled across it in 2000.

I have not yet committed to a full blown "frame off", but I am instead getting most of the mechanical done before the big process, mostly for budget reasons. I have been cursed/blessed with a car that is nice enough to drive, but not quite nice enough for a show. Up close you can see some of the sanding marks from the last body work ! (previous owner of course)

I love this site and I have learned so much about all the different products that are available to me. I have gained so much insight by people who actually use the producta and can report real world data. This allows me to select what is appropriate for MY budget, class rules , and personal taste.

So far I have a 383 SBC 320 rwhp 380 rwtq, with a comple Edelbrock RPM pkge. except a Holley 750 dp. (I know the carb would be better vacuum sec)

My suspension is stock except for poly everwhere and Hotchkis front springs which are too low for what passes for roads here in Quebec. I have GW subframes and a new Moser 12 bolt with 3.42 gears.

I currently have a Muncie M-22 that I picked up for $800 when the owner thought he was selling a plain Muncie. The gearing in first sucks but I plan on a TKO 500 with a short first gear to get rid of the bog in first. In the meantime I suffer the work in progress blues .........

I deally I would end up with a carbureted, all aluminum LS-2 from SLP, GW suspension with ATS spindles and Wilwood six-pistons. But next week, when something cooler or better gets introduced here, my plans will change of course .......

I just installed an LM-1 and aux box to help with tuning.

For body I plan on an NHRA/FIA 8/6 point roll cage and FIA seats and straps. The paint will be Daytona Yellow with the black hockey stripe. I researched the car through GM Canada and I have all the original option list of the car. The interior has been changed from white to black and I will be adding a cowl hood. Other than that it will be back to stock, including the spoilers. Anyone have a picture of N-98 wheels covers ?

Since it is not an SS or RS, but a good optioned sport coupe, I don't mind doing a little mods to the car, but I still favour stock looking stufff over some of the newer designs on this site. That may be a reflection of my age. lol I still have the original 350 2 bbl. but the stock Saginaw is going to the dump soon.

I really enjoy this site and I could not get any better pictures than this since my upload space is limited to very low res pictures.

Anyone still reading, thanks for the site and even though I will not be going as radical as some of these ultra dollar projects, I am glad SOMEONE is.
