Hit the nail on the head Lance! Very easy track to "survive" if you mess up and spin or go off track. For sure I've seen few wrecks. Mostly because the dirt is soft - and if you're trying to be a hero and save it --- you can get sideways in that soft dirt and pay a price for that! But overall it's perfect for people like us that don't get all that much seat time.
There are apex and exit cone markers.... but not much in the way of braking zones.
It's a very fast track... and you grow a set pretty quickly! Now there is the additional "WEST" side which makes this two tracks in one - the longest in North America I believe... and last October we ran the two tracks together to make one 5 mile course. The West side is very technical and very little in the way of passing get's done on that side.... then you zoom out to the faster "East" side and off you go. Very fun to run them that way!
The left at the top of the hill is called the Crow's Nest. The track can be run with or without that little rollercoaster! There's a bypass that does away with that -- and if running with the bypass - that's good for 4 seconds off your laps... so my 2:07's would be 2:03's or 04's. USCA ran it with the bypass.... and let me tell you --- Jake Rozelle and Danny Popp and Ken Thwaits.... those guys are FAST!
