We're heading into the last legs of our OLoA journey and so far Team Honor Flight is doing well. Man and machine are both healthy. The only tools we had to break out was an allen wrench to re-attach a rouge DSE wiper switch knob and the torque wrench to check the lug nuts.
We're heading into Bowling Green, KY to run at the NCM track. It's a new facility so few have driven it, so the competition will be very interesting.
We finished Motorsports Ranch yesterday with a P1-1-2 finish in class and a 14th overall standing. At Northstar Dragway we had our best performance ever in OLoA competiton scoring an 8th overall in low ET. Since i've never driven on a competition tree, ignorance is bliss, so I just ran it hard. The car took off like a rocket and did not slip or slide noticeably.
Today was Hallett Motorsports Park. It was the last place I drove Shipka's car before having to leave him to head home. It was a bit sureal to be there again and have all that emotion come back. This Saturday will be the same.
We finished the day with a P1-1 in class and maintained 14th overall. We are focusing on keeping the car in one piece and making it back home, but our stretch goal is within reach if we work the plan. Jon is driving tomorrow and is a bit nervous as NCM is very large and we are running the full configuration. One outlap, and it's game-on.
There are many photos on the Honor Flight Camaro Facebook page.
