When I was a teenager -- I worked at Gateway Body and Fender (still in business) -- sweeping floors and stacking parts and occasionally putting on some headlight trim...

We got a 55/56/57 Thunderbird in ----- there were holes in it at some point -- so the previous repair used STEEL WOOL as a backer and mudded over that... well you know that the steel wool didn't last more than a month or two in Oregon's climate... OMG...

The invention of BONDO is what allows work like this to take place...
