I was wondering, is the car darting all over the road? Could you possibly be having bump steer issues? I only ask because I have the standard global west arm on my 68 Cougar and my in-law has them on his 66 mustang. My car didn't have any darting, but my in-law's did. We fixed it with a Baer bumpsteer kit.
