You will see the dominance of 4WD in the low speed events. Danny Popp was competitive in his C5 'Vette, but he was driving at 10.5 tenths to do it

Watching the speed stop in person, it was visually obvious how much harder the 4wd cars launch. Any car that has enough power/weight ratio to win will probably have traction issues in the lower gears with 2WD and street tires, especially front engine cars.
