Jason,
No the Octane Booster AMSOIL offers is not a bad idea unless you have catalytic converters on your car. The product is marketed towards off road use for this very reason. It solved a problem I was having with my BB camaro. I was running the highest pump gas I could get, 93 ethanol blend. The problem was it was causing me carb issues so I went to 91 non ethanol but my car started dieseling at shut down.

I also thought octane boosters were a waste of money but figured I would give this AMSOIL product a try. On the very first tank the dieseling stopped and has never given me problems again.

Now the cool thing about this for my situation is I can get the 93 octane. I add quick shot a different additive AMSOIL has to address the ethanol issue and my BB is happy. I keep both additives in my car now in the event I can't get the 93 which seems to be anytime I am out of town.

I was able to duplicate this for my dad who was skeptical of my findings. I filled up with 91 and it dieseled at shut down. I added a bottle of octane booster and it wouldn't do it.

So it does raise octane levels and was enough for my engine. Will it be enough for yours i'm not sure.

What do you have to loose?

I'll help you get the booster at the best price possible when you decide to move forward.
