Hi Curtis. Yes definitely could have been far far worse, its a case of hoping for the best but fearing the worst when you start stripping any older car. I had owned mine for a number of years, I knew I had issues mainly to do with previous repairs lurking under what was actually pretty good paint, she still threw a couple of surprises our way, but fortunately nothing major.
