I don't doubt it is the most sophisticated option out there but guys are putting these systems together from used parts for $200 and new parts integrated kits are topping out at $1500 with pot controlled assist. I'm trying to decide between those two options myself.

I agree it would be nice to record steering angle via CAN, but most of those other steering programming parameters would definitely be overkill for me.

When I posted on this I was just beginning my research and I've been surprised at how well these systems seem to work. I have issues with stiction in my Woodward servo that is driving me crazy even after a full "loose" rebuild.

But I think I'd be perfectly happy with the basics, I have no idea even how I would want to program my steering to respond to all those variables !
