Progress is progress…..Got it running although not until April but ITS RUNNING!!!! After 16 years the Camaro is making noise again. One minor issue, considering my novice skills and all the custom wiring I’m extremely happy. I accidentally swapped the signal & Pwr wire on the Crank Signal pigtail. Delayed me a couple hrs but figured it out. Actually if you follow the Holley “start up” instructions closely you can’t really go wrong. The HP has a min basic requirements for running and it wasn’t getting an “RPM” read so it didn’t take long to pinpoint the issue.
Seats are in and I’m working the final fit for the console and gauges…Steering wheel installed and I’m working on throttle pedal placement. I believe I’ll need to move it up approx. 1.5” to get the right toe/heel position.
Had to modify the hood due to the engine set back towards the firewall, now working the air cleaner base to clear the hood when closed. A lot harder than originally planned and with a 4500 style TB and needing a 1” drop base there wasn’t an option I could find on the market so I’m fab’g my own. Also didn’t want to go any higher with the cowl induction hood.
Ordered Wheels last month, so looking for a late August delivery, here’s a rendering from Jason.
I had an idea on BS and size but to feel fully comfortable I started over and assured I was squared from corner to corner and made my own wheel fitment tool out of all thread. Wheels cost too much to get it wrong.
Goals: need to be on the road by Oct 1, Goes to the exhaust shop next Saturday. Then I need to order a drive shaft and front & rear glass. Also need to spend some time on setting up the suspension and corner weights. I’ll drive it with primer until next year until I can vet out all the mechanical systems.
First Race event scheduled for Nov 5, hopefully I can iron out all the issues that arise.
