So time for an update. I have gotten quite a bit done on the car this month and have more parts on the way. Plan is to get everything mocked up and ready to go to paint for the first of the year. I believe I might make it...
So I ordered and received my T-56 Magnum and got to work on making room. I used the pre-fabricated Speedtech transmission tunnel cover. I made a lsyout by creating a cardboard template then cut out the hole, welded the cover in place and painted/seam sealed the joints. I will have some cleanup to do on the bottom side the next time I put the car in the air but overall I think it came out well.
This of course allowed me to finally wrap up the dynamat in the cabin. You can also see that I made the hole in the trans tunnel/firewall for the PSI conversion harness for my LS3. More to come on the wiring in a bit.
So obviously I skipped a few steps in getting the transmission bolted up but I picked up a Quicktime Bellhousing as well as a Monster LT1-S cluctch setup. Clutch is good for 700 HP and supposed to retain a fairly stock pedal feel. It has gotten great reviews and came highly recommended from a few friends.
Now that the transmission was in place and I was able to locate the penetration location for the engine wiring harness I moved my attention to locating a place for the ECU and fuse panel. I did a very poor job of taking pictures but I fabricated a bracket that piggybacks off of the DSE Vintage Air bracket that bolts up to the bottom of the ECU. I then welded two threaded bungs to the top of the firewall to catch the top side. Its hard to see in pictures but it came out great and is solid as a rock.
