Be prepared to spend good money if you choose to use HOK due to lousy coverage of HOK basecoats. It takes many coats of base. Valspar bought them years ago and it went downhill from there.
Try to pick a factory color if you can. That way you can get decent basecoat from PPG and others.

This is very true. I painted my '67 with HOK red and it took a TON of material to cover- almost 8 coats to get the luster we were shooting for. It also required us to use a white base to get the brilliance out of it I wanted. At the end of the day it looked amazing, but I was a little uncomfortable with how much material went on the car plus if it were ever to get damaged, I'd be screwed.
My last car I used Honda R81 known as Milano Red. It took three coats and looks 99% as good as the HOK stuff IMO. If it's ever damaged- "easy" repair.
