If you look at the pics I posted you will see that there is about 1" of the original fender behind the door jamb, that's the "stretch" in the front. I would have done the same in the rear, similar to Steve and John but I opted to just let the rear end get wider...and yes this will require changes to the rear tail panel which I had already planned for. No real play book here, I do recommend looking at Steve and John's builds, both are done very well.
