I used the Richmond because I don't like the way the Tremec TKOs and T56s feel when shifting. The Richmond is an externally shifted unit with a super positive, mechanical, visceral feel. The Richmond also doesn't require any tunnel of floor mods for an early A Body. All that's required is moving the factory 4 speed crossmember back an inch or so. Also, my Richmond had the 1:1 fifth so I just ran a 3.31 rear gear. With a 28 inch rear tire it was excellent on the little highway driving that I did. I'm using another Richmond in my Fairlane now, I like it so much.
