Just finished off "Seven Men: And the Secret of Their Greatness" by Eric Metaxas and the companion "Seven Women: And the Secret of Their Greatness" (same author). Both were very good.
Also read "Improbable Planet: How Earth Became Humanity's Home" by Hugh Ross. He is an astrophysicist, but the book is very approachable and enjoyable.
