I've seen the move the outer section of rail over trick for years. It's a simple way to get a wider tire in the back of a G-Body on a budget.
Speaking of budget, I like to see the big dollar builds but I'm a DIY guy at heart. One way to get straight lines is to clamp a straight edge to the panel and run the plasma cutter against it for your cut. You may need to practice a bit on scrap to get the position right but it makes your cuts look like they were done by a pro even if you've had too much caffeine.
