Here's one nobody will suggest: Find a way to encourage use of the 6l80/90. Many pullout LS engines come with them, and they're super cheap on their own. They actually shift pretty well under pressure, and they're supposed to tolerate 700 horses before they give up. Granted, we are in the neighborhood of hardcore T56 commitment, but daring to be different is so much easier on uncooperative rotator cuffs . . .
