However, northern Mexico is not easy on drivetrain parts. Early in the week during a 3-4 shift the shifter went limp and the trans was locked in 4th gear.
Pulled the shifter base hoping that was broken since I had a spare.
No dice. Something wrong inside the trans. Parking lot repair time.
Turns out it had failed a roll pin in the top shift rail. Luckily the parts store down the road had a good selection so it was an easy fix. 3 hours later we were off to get another Big C burger. My new record for transmission service in a hotel parking lot.
There were a lot of hooligans out late at night when we were trying to sleep. Mostly locals I think.
