The question I have for you guys - Is there such a thing as unnecessary acceleration?
Years ago when I lived in upstate New York I did a rather larger burnout taking off from a light one summer night and got pulled over for "Uncontrolled Acceleration". When I asked what that meant, the officer explained that since my tires were spinning, I had no control over my car. I then asked if they gave tickets throughout the winter when people were spinning in the snow. Obviously I was young and stupid and ended up with tickets for modified exhaust, no front license plate, tires not "fully" covered by fenders or mudflaps, but not one for "Uncontrolled Acceleration" - I think that one was B.S. No real points on the license, just expensive at the time.

The obnoxious part was that he left first, and while pulling a U turn to head in the other direction made sure he smoked his tire(s) right in front of me.
