Big shocks on my 69 bird
So it turns out GM engineers faced the same problem in later years when larger bodied shocks were used. This seems to be how they addressed it. Pretty simple and doesn't impact he integrity of the mounting bolts. Couple of hours with a die grinder and fitting and they are in. Not too bad.
