Wow!! I'd assume it's real. I mean, I didn't know they were such a coveted item, but I do know small trinkets and parts like that, I've seen people pay big money for like certain gaskets, etc. I'd be afraid that the rubber was dried out or not as pliable and the little stubby would rip and tear while trying to push it through its hole.
