Hey Joe. its very easy to remove the foam. Its a urethane foam that can be purchased as a board in different thicknesses. Its also available as a 2 part liquid.
It shapes very easily with a knife, sandpaper and just you hand. Carve your shape just a little smaller than your desired size and then glass it up which adds the thickness of your final part. After the glass is dry you just carve it out of the inside.
I use it for spoilers , door panels, dash parts and even side rear view mirror bodies.
