I have mounted the dry sump tank in the passenger fender in front of the tire. (Where the battery used to be). The feed line ends up about 4 long and has to route over the DSE crossmember.

My new set up putting it in the cowl significantly shortens the feed line. I have also upper the feed line to a -16 AN because I did not see a downside and it errors proofs the. Installation.

So to answer you question it does not need to gravity feed. But the guys who designed the system told me not to make the feed line more than 5 feet long if you stay with -12 AN.

People who think they can put an LS7 dry sump tank in the trunk you can not. I asked a few years ago. The oil pump was not designed to do that and it will oil starve.
