The switches snap into rectangle holes in a 18 ga steel mount panel. The face plate is 1/8 aluminum and the oval holes and lettering were milled in on a CNC machine by a friend of mine. The face plate and the mount panel are spaced apart by .200" and between them is a LED dimmable light strip. The light glows up through the oval gap around the switch. The aluminum face plate is flat and is anodized. I decided not to backlight the lettering and keep the dash more simple.
