Love the welded nut technique! I did the exact same thing for my subframe connectors, firewall cage connections and my fuel cell hold down bars. Will be doing it again very soon for my license plate to taillight valance fasteners.
Also used it extensively on my rotisserie build.
I have entertained purchasing a nutsert tool but have not to date.
