The last Impala SS was an LS4-powered FWD car... apparently it was "okay," but none of the B-body crowd appreciated it. Then the final non-SS Impala was a different style FWD car. Apparently it was a quality vehicle but not a fun/performance one at all.

Holden Caprice (or the Commodore-equivalent Pontiac G8 / Chevy SS Sedan) would've made such a better farewell to the Impala SS nameplate. Too bad GM killed Pontiac and didn't rebadge the G8 as a Chevrolet, then brought the SS here without advertising it at all.

That's a Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) Grange hopped-up Caprice on top, with a 455hp 6.2L V8, and the forgettable Impala on the bottom. Unfortunately they look a lot alike.
