Yeah it would be a shame to eliminate the electronics from a 4L80E. Paddle shifter aside, once you have calibrated an electronic automatic to your liking, you will never go back. Expect increased performance, versatility and even reliability. Improper line pressure and shift timing can cause premature wear. The ability to install a paddle shifter is really just icing on the cake.

If a 10.200 deck height 572 becomes a problem, consider a 9.800 deck height 540. In fact you will probably be happier overall in the long run.
