A buddy of mine fabricated his own mesh screen on his 'glass 2x4 hood and it looks great...gives it that '60's "competition" look.
I still run the factory cowl flapper so mine's intact...but I do know what you mean.That is the first thing you see as soon as you're behind the wheel.
