Default Trunk Pan Replacement

I need to replace the "drop down" section of my trunk pan in my '68 Camaro. Question is...do I need to remove the rear end and place the back of the car on jackstands? I would think you need to take as much weight off the back to eliminate as much felxing as possilbe when the old pan section is removed. Any suggestions?
