Vac booster or Hydroboost?

I had a similar problem a few years ago with a vac booster. I had to drive home about 6 miles with rear drums smoking...had to get drums machined as they went out of round and new shoes.

It was the small disc ( think they call it a reaction disc) in the booster and the booster was essentially "staying on". Never had it before so didn't know what the issue was, but could have pulled the vac tube to the booster and it would have been fine (albeit manual brakes till I got home).
