Next time it dies you can quickly check the 6A by cranking the engine while having someone watch the LED on the box. If the box is working correctly the LED will blink as you crank the engine. I have my 6AL mounted in the exact location you have yours and have never had an issue. I have had a coil take a dump leaving me dead but it would not restart until I replaced the coil.
