Since the GMC C15 is mostly done and the Camaro's out of my hands at the moment, my buddy Giffin and I decided we should start another project.
Kidding, we started like three other projects. We both have vehicular ADHD and have too many ideas floating around at any point in time.
This one starts off with the collection of spare parts we had floating around:
- A complete 2002 Corvette chassis, originally bought just for the suspension. I acquired it cheap from the guy who bought the complete wreck. He wanted the motor, electrics and gas tanks. This includes the 6 speed manual gear box and fiberglass springs.
- A complete running and rusting 1970 Chevy K5 - it's a sickness, I love this body style. My friend's Mother in-law needed to sell it after her husband died. No one else wanted it and I gave way too much for it, but it was a good cause.
- An all aluminum 5.3L L33 that I bought cheaply and needed help. Giffin rebuilt this, as it was another "might as well, since I had the parts".
- A set of Grand Sport rims bought way too cheap
- A Whipple side mount blower... bought with no project in mind
- Billy Boat C5 headers in stainless
- Used injectors, ECM and a bunch of other stuff just kicking around
- Too much time on our hands?!?!?
Giffin is also the guy that builds my engines. We bounce ideas off of each other and come up with some really outstanding ones. We're both supposed to be thinning the herd, so we tell our wives we've sold them, but in fact, we shuffle projects to each other... My wife is aware, but pretends not to know.
So, yeah, this project is a "might as well". I sold him the chassis, I had the truck and the engine, etc. Giffin has a frame table, we both have welders, experience and no common sense. Chevy made a C5 in 1970, it was a 2wd Blazer (still called a K5). Most folks call the 5th generation Corvette a C5. Giffin and I thought it all made sense. We talked each other into the 104.5" wheel base both C5's share.
Y'all in? I have a boat load of pics and we've just finished dis-assembly...
