Thoughts on my Fuel Re Plumb

Getting ready to push the submit button on my Jegs order but want to make 100% sure I am heading the right direction and would like advice if needed from those of you that have plumbed a car with a return style regulator, etc.

Changing to the folowing:
Mallory 140 pump
Mallory 40 micron pre pump filter as recommended
BG 8 micron filter pre regulator
Holley return style regulator
8 an hose or 1/2 hard line feed line
8 an return hose
8 an vent with K+N
Use as few 90 degree fittings as humanly possible

The filter and pump will be gravity fed within 24 inches of the tank port similar to my old setup.


Now for the questions:

My tank has a 1/2 npt port. Is it going to be beneficial to run 10AN to my pre filter since it has a 3/8 npt inlet and outlet port and so does the pump?

I need to have two more 1/2 npt ports welded into my tank. Does the return belong on the top or bottom of the tank. Ricks says the bottom, Mallory says the top. ?????? Ricks says you don't want to aerate the fuel. Mallory says you don't want the return pushing on the gas in the tank causing false pressure. My thoughts were to put the return fitting on the top as far away from the feed as possible?

Thread sealant is my third. I used a pipe sealant that said it was ok with gas when I installed the system originally. It leaked in a few spots. So I changed over to teflon tape and no leak. The problem is you are not supposed to use tape due to fragments that can lock the pump especially in a return style system. Mallory recommended Ultra blue silicone but it says right on the package no gas. What has worked for you?
