That sucks.... lesson learned for him(HOPEFULLY)... brings back some memories for me! Thankfully, I wasn't driving like an idiot but I did take my dad's 34 Ford out with a couple buddies when I was about that age(20 years ago). I had a 67 Chevelle at the time but it was probably apart in the garage or something. Anyway, I was driving down the street minding my own business when this lady pulls out of a side street without even looking, sending me into oncoming traffic and into a head on collision with a full size Dodge van! Needless to say, it wasn't pretty. My dad and I have always had a great relationship and he let me drive his cars pretty much whenever I wanted(and still does!). After all, he was the one that gave me this "sickness". Actually, the year before that, I drove it down to Kentucky from Michigan with a friend for the Street Rod Nationals, but that's another story. Anyway, the lady never saw any of this but the guy behind me saw the whole thing right in front of him. He told me to hop in his car and we'll stop her. Got up to the next light and I jumped out of the guys car and went up to her to tell her what happened. I then got in her car and made her go back to the scene of the crime where she got a ticket.
After all that, my dad settled with the insurance company, got the wrecked car back, sold it, and ended up getting more money than if he would have sold it before the accident! Best part is, he was planning on selling it anyway. Win, win.
