Default Cost to make 1000hp

how much would a basic set up cost to make 1000hp? Nuthing fancy like polished intakes or anything like that. I was looking at the Banks twin turbo set up for a small block.

The first question is: The cost to hit 1,000 hp for bragging rights, or the cost to hit 1,000 hp consistently without failure? Also race gas versus pump gas.
Just asking since it makes a huge 2x/3x difference in price.

Also, old school displacement (cubic inches) with a big carb(s) or new age technology (twin turbo's, fuel injected etc). Hardcore race or streetable tuning ? NOS or Naturally aspirated ? As you can tell, there are alot of variations to consider when trying to est a build cost. It is possible to achieve 1000hp with a TT small block but the challange as is relates to cost is achived when trying to make it (a) reliable and (b) streeable.

The Banks system is $6K or so. I'd recommend an intercooler which would add another $1000-$1500 easy with the plumbing. You can do without and add water/alcohol injection, but not an ideal situation.

You will likely spend in the $8K to $12K for a reasonable long block to handle the boost. More if you want to go bulletproof. That's also if you can do the engine assembly yourself, otherwise add $1500+ for assembly.

You could make the power for less, but if you wanted to be able to do it time and again it pays to use better parts.

1000 hp,

All engines making that hp level are going to be expensive,Forged cranks, billet rods, forged pistions are the only way to build a engine like this.Turbos, blowers, nitrous can all kill parts.I seen a guy at the dragstrip with a stock short block ls1,with twin turbos made 3 passes before breakin ther crank and 2 rods out the oil pan, which then dumped 7 qts of oil on the track and crashed the car.

Dn't try it on a stock parts.

To make 1000 hp will run between 8k and 16k.

The question is do you realy need a 1000hp.

Can i ask another question - most is the most realistic HP number that you can make and it still be streetable

Just an Example the new LS7 is about 500hp and i would say it's tops what you use on the street

1hp = $150 at the "good guy" price...

1hp = $200 at the "It will actually live long enough to drive it 50k miles" price.

I say 700 on the street is about right for max street use,I drove 632 on the street for 3 yrs, then had a 710 on the street this summer that made just short of 1200hp.

To me 500hp is kinda weak,500hp are common on the street.

1hp = $2.00 thats pretty reasonable, but at this level.$2.25 or 2.50 is most likely where you will be.
