One of the great things about the USCA event was the Jet Hot Coatings instructors that came just to help everyone out.

Here is a picture of Andy Hohl teaching me how to get through the sweeper on the autocross course.

Andy is a regular SCCA instructor and one of the best of the best. He walked up to the passenger side of my car after my first run and gave me a little hint on how to get through the first element faster. After my next run, he walked back up and asked how it went...both totally unsolicited. He then offered to get in the car with me. I told him to let me learn the course first then he could help me more...which he did a bit later on.

I got every bit as much instruction from him that afternoon than I have out of any school I've paid decent money to go to...and it was all included in the entry fee.

Chris Alvarado became my instructor for the Road Course on Sunday. I did one session by myself, then he climbed in and started helping me on sessions 2-4. You will not believe how my times picked up as we went along. Before he was done with me we were dogging GTRs, Evos, Corvettes, even a Schwartz Chassis LS powered Monte in the twistys... They'd mostly all pull away from me on the straights, but it wouldn't take me too many turns to catch back up to them again. After the sessions and before the next ones he'd come over, check out my notes on the car, see what changes we made and offer suggestions and talk about what we were going to do next. He spent an invaluable amount of time helping me learn.

Again, the instruction was included in the price of admission...I feel like I went to two different schools...plus had a blast running a whole weekend track day...all in one. I can't say enough about how well the event was run, how smooth everything went, how much fun we had, all of it... Really did enjoy ourselves out there. If you get the chance to go to one of these few events left this year, don't second guess yourself...just GO!!

I'm glad Saroja took this picture and sent it along.

This kid was part of the MU FSA racing team that manned the Speed Stop competition all day long. He stood out there in the sun with no shade and waved that green flag over 500 times in a 5 hour period and waved it as enthusiastically the very last time as he did the very first time!

Those kids worked their butts off so we could race uninterrupted.
