On the attention to detail:

The entire block, both inside and out along with the cylinder heads have been completely grounded smooth. All the accessories front drive brackets and the motor mounts were completed sanded and powder coated in "Anthracite". The oil pan, valley tray and timing chain cover powder coated in texture black. The thermostat housing powder coated onxy, intake in a gun metal gray. The block, heads, alternator, ac compressor, power steering pump all sanded down of any casting and painted BMW "Frozen" gray It's a gun metal gray with flat clear). All the pulleys were given a brush finish. Ring Brother washer for the intake bolts and throttle body, Lokar dip stick, etc, etc ......

There is a lot more but you get the idea.

Here's a couple of pics:

After relocating the factory EVAC solenoid and negative battery cable that mounted to the front of the cylinder head, the 4 factory bolt holes on the were no longer needed, so they were welded in and the face re-milled.

The factory vapor tube was replace with XRP AN lines and fittings.

The intake might be replacing the intake for a carbon fiber unit.

Motor mounts with Prothane bushings.

Hey guys thanks for the props. I will have Nathan create an account when we get back from PRI next week (I will try to post pics from the show while there) and answer some of the questions asked. I think the Gen 5 front-drive is a great alternative and a economical option. The brackets are about $100 from the dealer. I also like the way it keeps everything down low as to not crowd the top of the engine.

Chris I can't wait to see what you come up with! Everything you do is top notch. You could probably tell there's a lot of your influence on these pics. Maybe Nathan can use some of your new stuff on his build.

Has anyone found part numbers for these brackets? I'm wondering if factory setup like this is available.

By the way, as everyone has said, it doesnt belong under a hood. Awesome job.

A very inspiring piece. Any more shots of the lower 1/2?

I found this link to the brackets. I'm guessing that the reservoir for the power steering has been removed and you are using a separate one. Can you get me this information?

Thanks,
HEEP

That is the prettiest LS engine I've ever seen! You and your boy are justifiably proud and I can't wait to see the complete build!
