So my GTO is gone. She left enough performance parts to wiggle into another project which we have been working on several years. We’ve got nearly 100,000 miles on this current project. It is a Factory Five 1933 Ford Kit car with a 383 Stroker engine, tk-45 5speed transmission, Monster Clutch, and a For 8.8 rear with a 3.73 gear. Paint and glass work done by 121 Rod and Restoration in Trenton Texas and the upholstery by Leo’s Upholstery in McKinney. The exhaust system is by Kinney’s mufflers in Euless Texas. Ready Motorsports in Manifold OK managed the latest engine install. This is the third time I have had an engine in and out, did the other two myself. Charles Ready helped me this time and took the lead, installing a Holley Stealth Sniper EFI on the 1990 single piece main GM short block. We installed a 520 lift roller cam on top of Vortex Heads I worked my self under the guidance of Michael Cain at Cain’s Machine Shop in Plano. We decked the heads, installed new seats, angled them, then cut and machined the guides to take the higher lift cam. We modified the spring seats so we could use late model higher rate springs with the roller cam. We wrestled for a while with overheating on the old block and discovered adding the Holley with timing computer controlled solved the problem. In the interim I would up with three con figurations for the side panels. The first is to go without any panels leaving the engine open, the team at 121 designed a stainless steel liner for the panels that really set the compartment off. Finally Don Ross of Ross Fabrications built me a set of steel sidings with louvers. I’ve loved this car. It has appeared in a number of magazines and calendars since 2019.
