Default 1969 Camaro coilover top installation options

Hello,
I am going to upgrade to coilovers, but I noticed that you can get a shock type top end coilover or weld in the cross bolt type top coilover. Is either one better /worse for the ride. Its a street driven car and I am looking for the best ride in general (comfy not stiff). I have BMR control arms and using there lowering spring which is ok, but alittle harse on NJ roads (which suck).
I notice Global West has a weld in bracket as does BMR or even a Chicane mount option so there must be a method or reason for such items. Is it for a fuller travel on the coilovers or a more smooth movement on the top of the coilover for the suspension movement for a better ride?
