Default stainless steel welding

what gas mix and wire is recommended for mig welding stainless steel, tri mix or stain mix.
I'm using miller passport plus, will like to weld ss 18gauge or so and will like to practice so I could weld my exhaust.

I use a tri mix gas (it splatters LESS when running SS)... and SS wire. But if doing that I'm just going to tack it up - then take it all out and TIG it.

You can - BTW - just weld it with your 75/25 gas and your wire... but it will rust of course.

I'm looking to get pro results so second option is out. So Tri mix has less spatter than stain On wire I'm thinking E308 or do I need to get specific one to Ss I'm welding. Yeah Tig Wil be nice. I should have just step it up to a Tig instead of passport.

No -- Tri mix has less spatter than your standard Co/Argon....

308 is fine....

I scuff the ss with a small fine wire brush... and make sure it's oil free inside and out around the weld area. DO NOT USE CHLORINATED anything - the phosgene gas that makes when welded on can kill you...
