Thanks Waynie.

I got a good amount done today between the cluster and working on my tail lights again. For the cluster last night I stretched a T shirt over the housing and held things down with some washers then applied some resin. Today I body worked it and started some high build primer before I lay some carbon on it. I have a voltmeter and a boost gauge on order, I'll end up with the boost gauge in the A pillar. I'm pretty happy with how this has come out so far and look forward to seeing it in the car.

Version 1.0 of my cluster laying out carbon fiber overlay came out pretty good (pic 1) I however encountered a lifting problem when I started to apply the epoxy and I just couldn't fix it. I pulled all the carbon off and while trying to figure if I should attempt to get the wet epoxy off now or let it dry and sand it down I came to the conclusion that since carbon fabric is relatively cheap that I would let the epoxy tack up and then throw a fresh piece of carbon at it and start from the bottom and work up. This turned out to be successful (pic 2). Tonight after work I'll start the coating process again, this time with a for sure good bond to the housing.

Too bad you don't know someone with a vacuum table. Nice work you'll get it.

Thank you. I have a vacuum pump for infusion, but I don't know if you can get a smooth finish if I vacuum bag it. Last night I remembered I wanted to do the vacuum table and heated lexan to mold the housing, maybe I'll get to try it on something else in the car.

Spent some of Friday night wet sanding after the second coat of epoxy cured. I just put the last coat on it and when that cures I'm ready for a matte clear and it will be finished and ready for my gauges. I'm seriously impressed with how this is coming out being my first carbon experience.

It looks great, I can't wait to see it with the next coat on it.
