Default ’86 Monte Carlo Aerocoupe Build

This build is part of a training program at the Metalcraft Skill Center in Crossville TN. All students are part of a build team that builds a specific vehicle. This car is a G Machine with the purpose of high performance in mind. The car is based off of information used in the ‘80’s to carry Monte Carlos to numerous victories and championships in NASCAR competition. If you have any questions post them or email me. The students built the chassis from ground up and are in the process of hanging the body. This build started November 1, 2007.

Hi Mark, welcome to the site. I checked out yours and read about your background. You've done a lot of cool things.

Keep us posted on the Monte Aero Coupe. That looks to be a cool project.

Thanks, guys for the response, we have had alot of hits on the gallery looking at the build. This build is part of a training program, that we call a build team, for lack of a better term on the job training. This build started Nov. 1st ,the two lead students, designed, built, the chassis, located, chopped the top, installed the windsheid bed, custom built an all aluminum areo coupe deck lid in eight weeks, quality is great, and on schedule with build goals. The one goal that I was very pleased with was chassis weight goal was 500lbs. max they came in at 420lbs. Our main objective with this car is lite ,simple, and fast, but alot of focus is handling, areodynamics. We are shooting on putting this car through the paces in May, one of the top magazines has commited to cover technical parts of the build this might slow them down a little, I will try to let everybody know whats happening.

Looks like a really cool project.

Can you post a rendering of the Car?

If you don't have one, I think it would really help focus your work and motivate you students.

Good Luck, please continue to post a lot of pictures.

Ty

hope to release a artist concept pretty quik, this car is kicking off a program where the finish products will be auctioned off to fund future tuitions for student techs that don't have the resources to attend the performance vechicle fabrication program. There is as much talent that falls through the cracks as make it, we hope we can help a few!!!
