Default Frame to body Mounts

How have you guys done this. I was wondering if anyone welds the frame to the body and what the benefits and drawbacks to this are. The obvious drawback is not being able to remove the body but I would think the increased structural rigidity would be worth it for handling.
I am building a 68 firebird and a 56 Gmc truck, the firebird has solid body bushings but no subframe connectors yet. How many of you have welded in subframe connectors and what did you do about the body mounts. On the GMC I will be fabricating everything and need as much torsional strength as possible as I will be running a diesel so I was thinking that welding the frame to the body and adding a roll cage might help....
Thoughts...ideas please?
