Default 1/4 panel louvers 69 camaro

I got a new set of Louvers from Ricks, they don't fit perfect but I think I can make them. The problem is the Crome is so hard on the studs that the speed nut will not cut into the stud. Whats happening is the speed nut straightens out when I try to put in on. Any sugestions?

Try running a regular thread cutting die over the studs. Use a coarse thread and pick a size that won't cut real deep. Your just trying to cut the chrome and give the speed nut a place to bite in. If it takes to big a bite back off you could break the stud.

I was thinking about threading the studs and just using a course thread bolt?
