Been a challenging couple of months, progress has been slow but have finally put the front fender flares almost to rest. Can't finish until I complete the rocker panels mod's. Soon. Name: a6.jpg

Had a couple minor issues with the rear-end, one was Currie's and one was mine (rushed the drawing and made a mistake). Currie did a fantastic job handling theirs and took care of mine at no charge. Rear-end is back in the car and all is well! Thanks Jon and Tony at Currie!! Spent the better of a day with plumb bobs ,string and a tape measure and squared everything up. I had already squared the subframe but after careful measuring the rear-end only took a 1/16" adjustment to the panhard bar to get perfect. Wasn't expecting that to go so easy!!
Started the rear fender flares. Picked up a set of skins from Classic Industries, and have started the process of moving the outer tubes out 1 5/8", leaving 3/8" clearance to the rear tire....is that enough?? More pics to come very soon.

I wish I could quit saying that life is getting the way of shop time...but Boise just had the worst snow storm in over 30 years. I spent the weekend shoveling snow and worrying about the trusses over my shop that had 33" of snow accumulated. Northwest transplanted California dude still hasn't completely sync'd with snow!! I know there are many here who will laugh at that little bit of snow but it was a big deal here. The evenings required the Jacuzzi and many cocktails!

I'm making some progress with the rear fender flares though, the first side has been mocked up and some tacking has begun. Attached are some pics of my process...I ended up only cutting the new skins at the body line seams and then laid the inner fender lip up against the tire with a paint stick as a buffer. Once it's all tacked in place, I should be able to thin the fender lip by 3/8" plus the paint stick should give 1/2" of clearance to the tire. Allowed the fender to decide how wide the back of the car would end up, looks like it will end up about 1" wider at the tail lights. Attached a few pics of all the clamps (reversed to be spreaders) that I used to push the existing fender lip out to be flush with the new skin. The threaded rods are doing the same with a thin piece of wood inside the fender and some nuts to push it out flat but still keep the curve to the fender.

The body seam behind the tire appears to be lining up almost exactly straight in line with the door/front fender but the section between the tire and the door will have to be completely rebuilt. Shouldn't be an issue.

Kind of embarrassed by all the wood and threaded rod chaos but it was the only way to do it while by myself in the shop.

More to come......
