Just got through reading this whole thread. Awesome job on this. Kind of looks like what I have going on in my garage also. I am just about ready to start my own build thread.
Can I get some info on the cherokee steering box? Direct bolt in? I'm a little behind on the information aspect of my Chevelle.

Can't wait to see more, keep the updates coming.

Looking good. I'm glad to see you keep the VVT technology. I like the idea of embracing modern tech obviously. Considering these cars are also meant to cruise, going on long trips and saving gas is just icing on the cake.

One advantage to always keep in mind with an iron block LSx engine is that rebuilding or stroking one is cheap since you don't have to worry about resleeving the block. Can you stroke the engine and keep the VVT? That would be cool if you can.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks boss, you should definitely start a build thread. The Jeep Grand Cherokee box is a direct bolt in. Your chevelle steering arm will work. The only difference is the threads in the box where your lines attach. The jeep box is metric thread, and your Chevelle box is SAE. If you are going to make your own AN lines, you can buy AN fittings, and then there is no difference. If you are going to run standard lines, there is a line that is a direct fit, but I'd have to do some research to find it again. Just make sure you get a 98' Grand Cherokee box. Now go start your build thread!

Yes sir, for me VVT is a no brainier. I understand the tech, and its got mad potential. I will drive this car a lot. That's really why I'm going the LS fuel injection route. Fuel economy, and reliability. I have gobs of high end SBC parts in the shop that I could have put together and had a 427 small block that would have gotten at least 5 mpg's. lol!
I hear you loud and clear on the iron block. I can live with it for now. The VVT doesn't know, or care what the stroke is.

Thanks! That's up in the air currently. I have the GM stuff, but I am probably not gonna run it. Gonna go with Mast stuff, if I have any money left when I get to that point.

Sorry for the hijack.heep,i have a 89 12.7:1trans am box in my chevelle and you can use the sae hoses, the metric female threads are close in pitch, you just need the aluminum deals that press into the box so you can use flare fitting hoses.tom lee sells them(lee manufacturing sun valley ca.)also if your running a p style pump, they sometimes suffer from whats referred to as lazy pump syndrome.you might need to modify the poppet valve to increase the pressure/pump flow, its a pretty simple mod.phil

Here's a pic of the all too familiar tranny tunnel mod, before and after.

More to come!
