Default shipping a car coast to coast, need recommendations

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at a car from California currently, as I've run out of patience of poorly fixed and rotted cars in the Northeast. I'm going to have to have someone check it out professionally for me, since I doubt I'll get out there this year with everything going on.

Question is, does anybody have a shipper or company they have used to transport a car cross country? And does anybody have recommendations for what I should look for in a shipper? For example, does it matter if an unfinished car is on an enclosed or open trailer for that distance, and what price should I expect for Cali to NJ?

Appreciate any help

Default Shipment

Cant recommend a shipper but would suggest if its on one of the large car hauler it be on the top so its not under a car that leaks also would suggest that whoever you buy it from take pictures just before its loaded and send them to you so your covered if there is any damage to prevent the carrier from claiming it was already there. And last of all if you could afford it I would try to have it shipped in an enclosed trailer but thats my opinion. Good luck

I recently used this lady to have a non op car shipped from Arizona to Texas. Very smooth transaction. She is a broker and was recommended by a local classic car dealer who uses her often.

Thumbs up

Unfinished, as in a roller? Or, running under its own power?

Reliable Carriers has worked well for me in the past with coast to coast shipments, but the cars were under their own power.

My guess, to move a "roller" coast to coast would be expensive... but probably cheaper than rust repair.

IMHO, an unfinished car needs to go in an Enclosed Trailer. You don't want any extra people with access to boxes of parts. Open Carriers don't want that risk.

As much as some people don't like Agents, I have used Agents for most of my shipments ( over a dozen cars). Some have been OK, but know I use a really good one
