Default Ok to Offset trans mount?

So here is what I’m thinking....

I have 71 Firebird with a Gen V LT4/TKO600. I am looking at the Hooker BlackHeart 71222006HKR cross member. It is for a T56.

It will be roughly 5-1/2” too far back. I was thinking of making a plate to mount to the trans mount mounting surface and moving the mount back the 5-1/2” so the weight is straight down on the cross member instead of putting the plate below the mount which would put a twisting force on the cross member.

Thoughts?

I’m curious of the twisting force on the aluminum tail housing. There is a boss off of the drivers side of the tail housing 6” back from the original mount location that could be utilized to stabilize the plate that would be directly above the the “New” mount location.

Hope this makes sense?

Thanks,
Stan
