GM used 2g welding cable for the ground cable in the 2008-2014 Cadillac CTS. It's printed right on it "2 gauge Prestoflex Welding cable 600v"

4 gauge charge wire will likely be overkill.

We offer a 140-190 amp charge wire setup that utilizes a 6 gauge charge wire and included the Midi fuse and everything you need: https://www.painlessperformance.com/wc/30700

We also offer a few 1 gauge high quality battery cable kits: https://www.painlessperformance.com/wc/p.php?s=caac

follow on to this thread, I have my battery mounted in the trunk and curious what gauge wire is recommended running straight to the starter? Currently have 1 gauge copper and seems to struggle when starting (voltage drops to 10.2v) with a fresh Optima Yellow Top. I've cleaned up the grounds and have a 1 foot 2/0 gauge ground to the body, so assume the long positive run from the trunk may be the issue.

thanks for any help,

What size wire do you have engine to frame and frame to body? These grounds should be heavy as well. For my build I bought a 5th gen Camaro cable on eBay. In stock form it runs from trunk to engine bay so it was plenty long enough. I think it was a 1/0 wire. I also have a 1/0 battery negative to body, 4 awg body to frame and 4 awg frame to engine. Also have a 4 awg frame to core support.

I have 4 gauge from the body to the frame and multiple 4-6 gauge from the motor to the frame. Initially thought the ground was the issue but didn't seem to help any cleaning and ensuring good contacts and adding a couple new grounding points.

The only other thing I can recommend is star washers on all grounds and dielectric grease.
